Emma Stone made it clear to everyone that the rumors of her calling Oscars host Jimmy Kimmel a «jerk» after his joke about her movie «Poor Things» were false. This issue was raised in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter with her and Nathan Fielder, where she clarified the situation. She let everyone know that she is always ready to laugh, in an article published on Wednesday, April 24.
The interviewer asked Emma if the late-night talk show host really «deeply offended» her with his joke about her movie «Poor Things» at the Oscars in 2024. During the show, Jimmy made a joke about the large amount of sex scenes in the movie, after a short clip he joked, «These are all the parts of the movie 'Poor Things' that we can show on television». The camera then switched to Emma, who was whispering something to her husband Dave McCary.
After the segment aired, many people online speculated that Emma called Jimmy a «jerk» in front of her husband, and the interviewer told her about it. «No! I didn’t call him a jerk», - she told THR. «What did I say? I didn’t call him a jerk. I wasn’t offended by him at all. I’ll have to check on that».
Nathan added that his co-star in the movie «The Curse» is always ready for jokes, and Emma agreed that she is «almost invulnerable». Of course, the actress is no stranger to comedy. Despite being praised for her serious, award-winning roles, she has also played many comedic roles, especially early in her career, such as in the movie «Easy A» or the comedy «The Favourite».
Although Jimmy had a witty joke about Emma’s movie, she had the last laugh because she walked away with the Oscar for Best Actress. After her victory, Emma was seen in a rare moment of public display of affection, kissing her husband
