Andy Cohen, the head of Bravo, wears many hats, but his favorite role is that of a super dad to his two wonderful children! The 55-year-old television host and producer became a father to son Benjamin and daughter Lucy through surrogacy and can’t contain his love for them, constantly sharing his joy on social media. Learn all about his charming family below!
Andy became the first member of his family, son Benjamin, in February 2019. «He is named after my grandfather, Ben Allen», - Andy wrote on Instagram, posting a photo of the newborn. «I am in love. And I can’t find the words. And I am endlessly grateful to the incredible surrogate mother. And I am a dad. Wow».
Despite his busy schedule, Andy always puts Ben first. But, strangely enough, his hectic routine has turned out to be a real blessing. «Being a father has changed my life in every way», - he told Hollywood Life in June 2019. «The funny thing is, I leave for [Watch What Happens Live] between 9:00 and 9:30 every night, so that’s great. He goes to bed at 8:30. But on the other hand, I am the only parent, so I want to spend as much time with him as possible».
«It's cool that I really come and go all day because of my job», - he continued. «I sometimes go to the radio in the mornings for two hours, come home, put him down for a nap. He falls asleep, I leave. He wakes up, I spend another two hours with him, and then I put him down and go to work. So I’m kind of here and there throughout the day, which creates a nice stability».
Almost three years with little Ben, and Andy is still thrilled. «He is a funny, wonderful kid. He makes life interesting. I learn something new every day», - he explained on KMOX radio. «I think having a child at a later age is really fun because you worry about things, but I try to be as relaxed as possible».
The news about how Andy fits into the role of a father is especially touching, considering he never thought he would become a parent. «As a gay man, I never thought this would be in my plans», - he told People shortly after Benjamin’s birth. «When I came out to my parents in 1988, my mom said she needed to mourn the life I wouldn’t be able to have. And that life included marriage and children».
Once he became a father, feeling right at home, Andy soon decided that Benjamin needed a brother or sister, and on April 29, 2022, he became a father for the second time, welcoming daughter Lucy through a surrogate mother. «Here's LUCY!!! Meet my daughter, Lucy Eve Cohen!» he shared on Instagram. «She weighs 8 pounds 13 ounces and was born at 5:13 PM in New York!!!»
Andy also reported that Ben was thrilled to meet his sister. «His big brother can’t wait to meet her!» he added, expressing gratitude to his surrogate mother. «Thank you to my rock star surrogate (all surrogates are rock stars, by the way) and everyone who helped make this miracle possible. I am so happy», - he concluded
