Anne Hathaway recalls kissing 10 different actors in a «disgusting» chemistry test

«In the 2000s — and this happened to me — it was considered normal to ask an actor to kiss other actors to check chemistry, which is actually the worst way», - Anne said in an interview with V magazine published on Monday, April 22. «I was told, 'Today 10 guys will come, and you are already chosen. Are you happy to kiss all of them?'»
She admitted that she thought, «'Maybe there’s something wrong with me?' because she was not thrilled. Then Anne added, «I thought it sounded disgusting».
Without naming the film that required such a screen test, the star of «Les Misérables» explained that at the time she did not want to get the diva label, as was common in those days.
«I was so young and terribly aware of how easy it is to lose everything if you are called 'difficult', so I just pretended to be happy and went along with it», - Anne said, before clarifying, «It wasn’t a power play, no one was trying to be awful or hurt me. It was just a very different time, and now we know better».
Anne is promoting her upcoming film for Prime Video, «The Idea of You». In addition to co-starring with rising Gen Z star Nicholas Galitzine, the Oscar winner serves as a producer for the romantic film. Anne plays the role of Solene Marchand, a 40-year-old single mom who falls in love with a 24-year-old boy band singer Hayes Campbell. The film is based on the book of the same name by author Robin Lee.
«It's a story about a single mom fully realizing her sexuality in her life and a woman’s life when traditionally we start to be erased», - Anne emphasized.
Instead of making her kiss several actors again, Anne noted that auditions for the role of Hayes required actors to «choose a song that their character would love, have them play it to make my character dance, and then we would do a short improvisation».
