Eva Mendes and Ryan Gosling openly talk about their personal relationship over the past year. After previously stating that she was happy to leave her acting career behind to raise their children, Esmeralda and Amada, at home, the 50-year-old actress candidly reveals in a new interview about how the 43-year-old Barbie star «closed» her.
«I don’t succumb to public pressure. Whatever I want to do, I do», - Eva told PEOPLE magazine in an interview published on Wednesday, May 1. «I certainly never thought I would have children and be closed off. So I am very grateful that a certain man came into my life and made me rethink everything».
Eva also said that leaving her acting career to care for her children was the «easiest decision» for her. «All these years are shaping up», - she added, referring to the young age of her daughters. «I wanted to be there for all of it».
The day before, Ryan explained to the same publication how they divide their time as mom and dad.
«She's with the girls, and when she’s working, I stay home with the girls too», - he said at the premiere of «Undercover» on Tuesday, April 30, in Los Angeles.
The Oscar nominee also noted that his wife has contributed to his growth as an actor. «I couldn’t be here without her», - Ryan continued. «She's also my acting coach. She really became the best acting coach I’ve ever had, endlessly helping me».
Last month, the couple, who have been together since 2011 when they met on the set of the movie «Place Beyond the Pines», - made headlines after Eva described an unspoken «agreement» they had that she would become a homemaker.
«It was almost like a non-verbal agreement that it was like, 'OK, he’s going to work, and I’m going to work. I’m just going to work here,'» she said on the TODAY show. «He left, and he did his job. He just happens to be very good at his job. And he did it, and came home».
During the interview, Eva emphasized how easy it was for her to leave show business to become a full-time parent.
«I am so lucky that I can spend this time with my children», - she said, adding that it was an «easy decision» for her to change her lifestyle
