A fan fell from the stands onto the field during the Pittsburgh Pirates and Chicago Cubs game

The baseball game between the «Pittsburgh Pirates» and the «Chicago Cubs» was forced to pause after a fan fell from the stands during the seventh inning on Wednesday, April 30. The identity of the fan was not disclosed at the time of publication. The person’s age is unknown, but it is an adult male.
The fall from the stands to the field was about 20 feet.
Videos on social media showed the moment when the man appeared to be holding onto the railing before flipping over it and falling to the ground. Players from both the «Cubs» and the «Pirates» initially did not see what happened because the game continued. Stadium staff and other personnel attended to the fan before taking him off the field on a golf cart.
Players from both the «Cubs» and the «Pirates» were seen taking a knee after the incident. The game resumed a few minutes after staff took the unidentified man to the hospital.
«Pirates» manager Derek Shelton commented on the scary moment, calling it «extremely unfortunate», - according to Yahoo! Sports.
«Even if it’s 350 feet away or whatever it is, I mean, how it happened, and then laying there motionless while the game’s going on, I mean, [Cubs manager] Craig [Counsell] saw it, I saw it. We both went out there», - Shelton said, according to the source. «I think the umpires saw it because of how he hit. It’s extremely unfortunate. That’s an understatement».
«Cubs» coach Counsell later noted that they did not understand how the man fell.
«We didn’t understand what we were seeing. We just saw somebody laying on the warning track, and, you know, that’s not good», - he said, adding, «I hope the gentleman is okay. We’re thinking about his family and him right now».
It was later officially announced that the man is in critical condition, and the fall is under investigation.
