The FBI has arrested a man from Massachusetts on charges of stalking and intimidating conservative podcaster Katie Miller, the wife of senior White House official Stephen Miller. John Anthony Proya III is suspected of calling and sending Katie more than 40 messages between August and September 2025, leaving «disturbing» recordings about her and Stephen, who serves as Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy at the White House.
Proya, who is 41 years old, also sent threatening messages to Katie’s parents, in which, according to prosecutors, he referred to Katie as «trash» and Stephen as «evil» and a «Jewish Nazi/white supremacist». On Thursday, October 1, he was charged with one count of cyberstalking, according to a press release from the Massachusetts District Attorney’s Office.
FBI Special Agent Ted E. Doks stated that «terrorizing someone is not a game, it’s a crime, and that is why the FBI and our partners take this so seriously, working to protect and serve everyone in our communities». Proya pleaded not guilty during his first court appearance and hearing on Thursday.
The prosecution did not disclose Katie’s full name, only stating that she is a former political advisor and prominent member of the Republican Party, married to a senior federal official. In response to the news of Proya’s charges, Katie thanked authorities for «protecting me and my family», - noting that «it's good to see a Boston jury indict this person».
Proya is accused of repeatedly calling and leaving voice messages for Katie from unknown numbers, which prosecutors claim he obtained using apps to create free secondary numbers. In one message sent to Katie’s father, Proya allegedly wrote: «Hi, [victim's father’s name], how are you? I hope your daughter marrying a Jewish Nazi/white supremacist works for you».
Proya was released from custody under certain conditions, according to court documents. A record from October 2 states that his release conditions include a ban on contacting any government officials or their family members, as well as the victim and any potential witnesses in the case.
