FGF Brands is recalling 60 types of donuts due to the risk of listeria contamination

Just in time for the parties leading up to the Super Bowl Sunday, baked goods were recalled from shelves by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) — specifically, donuts. The recall was conducted due to an outbreak of a foodborne illness. So which donut brands were recalled?
The donut recall occurred shortly after Frito-Lays faced a recall of over 6,000 of their «party size» chip bags. Not only that, but several products were also removed from shelves in December 2024.
According to the FDA report, the administration recalled 2 million products distributed by FGF Brands, LLC. The wholesaler, based in Indiana, distributes baked goods in both the US and Canada. Initially, the FDA recalled the products on January 7, 2025, but later updated it to a class II recall on February 5, which means «a situation in which the use [or] exposure to a product that violates the product may cause temporary or reversible adverse health consequences or when the likelihood of serious adverse health consequences is remote», - according to the FDA website.
The FDA recalled some baked goods from FGF Brands due to «potential contamination with Listeria monocytogenes». Listeria is a bacteria and the third leading cause of death from foodborne illnesses, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
Although Listeria can be treated, people in more vulnerable groups — pregnant women, individuals over 65, and those with immune system disorders — are at risk of more serious infection.
According to the FDA report, several of the recalled products are sold at Dunkin' Donuts. It is unclear which products from the national coffee chain were affected.
The FDA did not specify which baked goods were recalled, but several sources reported that the recall of FGF Brands products affected around 60 different types of donuts, including rings, fritters, crullers, and munchkins. The Independent reported that the recalled baked goods had an expiration date of «up to December 13, 2024, and earlier».
According to Fox26, the recall has been completed, meaning that all affected products have been completely removed
