Phoebe Fox will not return to «Task» in the second season

The series «Task» is undergoing significant changes in its cast ahead of the second season. Phoebe Fox, who played the role of Sarah, announced that she will not be returning to her character. In an interview with TV Insider on October 1, she stated, «I am not coming back for the second season. My character lives in a completely different city. So, unfortunately, no, because I really like this show».
The first season of «Task», - which premiered in September 2025, follows FBI agent Tom (Mark Ruffalo) as he leads a special team to combat a series of violent robberies committed by seemingly ordinary family man Robbie (Tom Pelphrey). The plot also centers around Tom’s family, who face challenges when his adopted son Ethan (Andrew Russell) ends up in prison for the murder of Tom’s wife.
Among the other actors involved in the project is Silvia Dionisio, who played one of Tom’s daughters. She shared her thoughts on the development of the plot and her character Emily, noting that her character becomes more confident and starts to stand up for her interests.
The second season is expected to feature a crossover with the successful series «Mare of Easttown», - in which Julianne Nicholson will reprise her role as Lori. Despite Fox’s absence in the new season, viewers will be able to see her in the new HBO series «War», - which tells the story of two prestigious law firms in London involved in a scandalous divorce between a tech entrepreneur and his star wife.
