Phil Yurkovec arrested for stealing a truck from a hospital
Former Notre Dame football player Phil Jurkovec was arrested over the weekend on charges of stealing a rental truck from a hospital parking lot in Pennsylvania.

Jurkovec, 26, faces two felony charges for theft and receiving stolen property, according to court documents obtained by Us Weekly. The alleged crime occurred on September 18 at the UPMC Wexford Hospital in Allegheny County, near Pittsburgh. Police were called to the parking lot where an employee of the rental company Rental Time reported that he was about to load tables and chairs into the truck when it was stolen.

Rental Time owner Deborah Kleiger told CBS News that the worker heard the doors opening and closing, and suddenly the truck drove away. She added that she was shocked to learn who the alleged thief was. Police were able to track the truck using GPS to nearby Cranberry, where they stopped it and identified Jurkovec as the driver.

Court records show that Jurkovec was unable to post bail set at $ 25,000 and is currently in Allegheny County Jail. He has a preliminary hearing scheduled for September 30. Kleiger expressed hope that Jurkovec would receive the help he needs, adding that something is clearly going on with him.

Jurkovec was highly regarded in high school as one of the top quarterbacks in Pennsylvania and the country. He began his career at Notre Dame and then continued at Boston College and the University of Pittsburgh. His best season came in 2020 when he played 10 games, throwing for 2,558 yards and 17 touchdowns. After college, he was invited to a minicamp with the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2024 but did not make the team. He later worked as an aide to Pennsylvania State Representative Josh Kail, but his employment ended in November 2025.
