The finale of the fifth season of «Stranger Things» will air on December 31, 2025, marking the official conclusion of the popular Netflix series after nearly a decade on screens.
The premiere will take place at midnight Pacific Time (12:00 PT) and at 3 AM Eastern Time (3:00 ET) on December 31, in accordance with Netflix’s standard global release schedule.
Fans will be able to watch the fifth season finale exclusively on Netflix. Additionally, the final episode will be shown in select theaters across the United States and Canada on the night of the premiere.
The main cast will return for the final season, including Millie Bobby Brown (Eleven), Finn Wolfhard (Mike), Noah Schnapp (Will), Gaten Matarazzo (Dustin), Caleb McLaughlin (Lucas), Sadie Sink (Max), Natalia Dyer (Nancy), Charlie Heaton (Jonathan), Joe Keery (Steve), and series veterans Winona Ryder (Joyce) and David Harbour (Hopper).
Netflix has confirmed that the fifth season finale will be a feature-length episode, with a runtime of just over two hours, making it the longest episode in the series' history.
While the fifth season wraps up the main storyline, Netflix has confirmed that spin-offs are in development, including an animated series set in the «Stranger Things» universe. However, none of the spin-offs will continue the main story of Hawkins.
Co-creator Ross Duffer previously explained that any future projects will focus on new creative voices and fresh perspectives within the universe.
«When we find others who are really passionate about the story they want to tell in this world, it’s exciting because they will always bring something different than we would if we were telling our version of that story», - Duffer said in an interview with Polygon. «We hope that the spin-off and everything that comes next will have that same level of passion and excitement»
