Garth Brooks has been accused of sexual assault by a woman known as «Jane Roe». She claimed to have worked as a makeup artist and hairstylist for the country musician and songwriter since 2017, as well as for his wife, Trisha Yearwood, since the late 1990s. Brooks denies the allegations against him, calling them an attempt to extort «hush money». As more detailed information about the shocking lawsuit unfolds, learn more about the situation below.

On October 3, 2024, Brooks was sued for allegedly subjecting a woman to various forms of sexual assault and harassment. According to court documents obtained by CNN, the complaint was filed in a state court in California. In it, the woman, identified only as «Jane Roe», claimed that Brooks, a father of three, raped her during a work trip in 2019.

In the lawsuit, Roe recalled the alleged incident, claiming that she and Brooks traveled to Los Angeles together so he could work on a performance in honor of the Grammys.

«Usually, Brooks' private plane had others on board, but this time Mrs. Roe and Brooks were the only passengers», - the complaint stated. «Upon arrival at the hotel in Los Angeles, Mrs. Roe could not believe that Brooks had booked a hotel room with only one bed, and she had no separate room».

Upon arrival at the hotel, Roe claimed that Brooks «appeared at the bedroom door completely naked» at one point. She felt «trapped» with Brooks, the complaint alleged. After he allegedly raped Roe, Brooks told her about his sexual fantasies, including that he «repeatedly» talked about a «threesome» with his wife, Roe claimed.

Brooks denied all allegations against him in a statement obtained by CNN. He claimed that he was «harassed with threats, lies, and tragic stories of what my future would be if [he] didn’t write a check for many millions of dollars».

«Hush money, no matter the amount, is still hush money», - Brooks said in his statement. «In my opinion, that means I’m admitting to behavior that I’m incapable of — ugly acts that no one should do to another. We filed suit against this person almost a month ago to speak out against extortion and defamation. We filed it anonymously for the sake of families on both sides».

Brooks was not arrested when the lawsuit was filed.

The woman accusing Brooks did not publicly disclose her identity. In the complaint she filed, she is known only as «Jane Roe».

Earlier, Brooks filed a complaint against Roe and identified himself only as «John Doe», - according to CNN. His previous lawsuit denied Roe’s claims.

«The defendant’s allegations are not true», - Brooks' previous lawsuit stated, according to a source. «However, the defendant is well aware of the significant, irreparable harm that such false accusations would bring to the reputation and caring person, as well as the inevitable harm to his family and irreparable harm to his career and livelihood that would result if she carried out her threat to 'publicly file' her fabricated lawsuit».

Roe’s lawyers told CNN, however, that they are «confident that Brooks will be held accountable for his actions», - and they «applaud our client’s courage in advancing her complaint against Garth Brooks».

«Today's filed complaint demonstrates that sexual predators exist not only in corporate America, Hollywood, and the rap and rock 'n' roll industries, but also in the world of country music», - Roe’s lawyers added in their statement.
