The TODAY show recently underwent some changes, but fans are concerned about the whereabouts of one of the hosts: Sheinelle Jones. The TV host is noticeably absent from the NBC program, and viewers want an explanation. Is Sheinelle sick? Has she encountered a family emergency? Nevertheless, Hollywood Life delves into Sheinelle’s absence below.

Sheinelle is an experienced journalist, news anchor, and TV host. She began her broadcasting career at WICS. Originally from Illinois, she eventually found her place at NBC News after working at various news stations for many years.

Fans of TODAY were worried when they didn’t see Sheinelle on the last day of Hoda Kotb on the morning show. Hoda left the program after nearly 20 years on the air, and she and Sheinelle had developed a close working friendship. Sheinelle even wished Hoda a happy birthday in August 2024, writing a touching caption on Instagram that said: «To my friend who radiates joy and love every morning. Love you @hodakotb !! I know I say it all the time, but you make my heart happy».

It is unclear when Sheinelle will return to TODAY. She has not publicly discussed her absence. However, fans are concerned about Sheinelle due to the changes in the program’s lineup. After Hoda left the show, Craig Melvin became a co-host alongside Savannah Guthrie.

Sheinelle had previously congratulated Craig on his new position in November 2024 on Instagram. She affectionately called him her «little brother» in the caption, adding that Craig «will move to Savannah on TODAY [as a co-host] when Hoda starts her new chapter in January».

«If you’ve been watching us for the last decade, you can tell we’re all pretty close», - Sheinelle admired. «I couldn’t be happier for Craig; when he was officially named this morning, I couldn’t help but cry — because I know how hard he worked. Turns out, MC Hammer was the first concert for both me, in Kansas, and him, in South Carolina. Hence the music! (I really wanted to be Hammer’s girl… I don’t think Craig had that dream. In the end, I decided to become a news anchor… which somehow worked out.) Love you @craigmelvinnbc! Congratulations!!!»

Sheinelle has been working on the TODAY show since 2014. She celebrated her 10-year anniversary at NBC in 2024
