Gene Simmons has enjoyed one of the most enduring careers in the history of rock and entertainment. The 76-year-old musician, born in Israel, first rose to fame in the 1970s as a co-founder and bassist of the legendary glam rock group Kiss, performing chart-topping hits such as «Rock and Roll All Nite» and «I Was Made for Lovin' You». Over the years, Simmons expanded his role in Hollywood, appearing in films such as «Runaway» (1984) with Tom Selleck and «Wanted: Dead or Alive» (1987), as well as headlining his own reality show «Gene Simmons Family Jewels».

In recent months, Simmons made headlines after a car accident in Malibu, which he described to his fans as a «minor collision». But one constant in his life has been his longtime partner Shannon Tweed. A former Playboy model and actress, she has stood by Gene since 1983, and they have built one of the most enduring love stories in rock.

Here’s everything you need to know about Shannon and their ten-year relationship.

Shannon Tweed was born on March 10, 1957 in Placentia, Newfoundland, Canada, to Donald Keith Tweed, a mink rancher, and Louise Tweed. After her father was paralyzed in an accident, Shannon began participating in beauty pageants to help cover the family’s expenses, according to Famous Canadians. Eventually, she placed third in the Miss Ottawa contest in 1978 and also won the Miss Canada Music competition for her vocal talent.

Her modeling career led her to the pages of Playboy magazine, where Shannon was named Playmate of the Month in November 1981. She also received the Playmate of the Year award the following year. While staying at the Playboy mansion with Hugh Hefner, Shannon met Gene in 1983, and they have been inseparable ever since!

Gene and Shannon were together for 28 years before they decided to get married. During this time, the couple welcomed two children: Nick (born January 22, 1989) and Sophie (born July 7, 1992). Gene finally proposed to Shannon on their reality show «Gene Simmons Family Jewels» in 2011, and they tied the knot on October 1, 2011 in a lavish wedding in Beverly Hills, with Nick and Sophie in attendance.

Long before she appeared with Gene on the reality show «Gene Simmons Family Jewels», Shannon had an impressive acting portfolio. She worked on various television projects, including «Falcon Crest», «Baywatch», «21 Jump Street», «Nash Bridges», and many more. Shannon has appeared in over 60 films and also voiced a character in the animated series «SpongeBob SquarePants».

In a 2011 interview on the Joy Behar show promoting «Family Jewels», Shannon walked off the set after Gene joked about his infidelity. The incident occurred after host Joy Behar joked about Gene’s notorious womanizing, to which he responded flippantly. «It's really nice that you’re joking about it», - sarcastically said Shannon, adding «Go to hell». After that, she left the talk show set. Of course, the couple reconciled and got married just a few months later
