Gillian Anderson spoke about her role in the new crime thriller «Animals», - where she plays a character named Dale, who helps a family cope with a child abduction. In an interview with «Extra», - Gillian noted that her character forces the family to confront their deepest, darkest secrets.
Anderson shared that she has a monologue in the film that she worked on for a long time. She described her character as a «truth-teller» who tries to calm others but is not afraid to voice uncomfortable truths about human nature and survival. For this role, Gillian chose a British accent at the suggestion of director Ben Affleck.
Gillian also mentioned that Affleck spent a lot of time with each actor before rehearsals, discussing all elements of the script and being ready to make changes. She felt his support as a director, co-writer, and partner from the very beginning.
In addition to her work on the film, Anderson has been actively involved in other projects, including walking the runway at the Miu Miu fashion show in Paris in March. She admitted that she didn’t quite understand what it meant when she agreed to participate.
The film «Animals» will be available for streaming on Netflix starting October 9.
