Another portion of bad weather is expected on the west coast of Florida just a few weeks after Hurricane Helen. There are only a few hours left before Hurricane Milton reaches the Sunshine State coast, and residents are wondering if they are in the eye of the hurricane. As Orlando is a large and densely populated city, is it in the path of Milton?

The National Hurricane Center (NHC) warned Florida residents that Milton «has the potential to become one of the most destructive hurricanes in history for west-central Florida». Find out which areas of the state are in the storm’s path.

Meteorologists estimate that Milton will reach the Florida coast on the evening of Wednesday, October 9.

Orlando is in the path of Hurricane Milton, according to several storm tracking maps. Orlando is in Orange County, which was one of many counties that received storm preparation warnings.

Orlando International Airport (MCO) has taken precautionary measures ahead of Milton’s approach, posting an announcement about its operations.

«On the morning of Wednesday, October 9, Orlando International Airport (MCO) and Orlando Executive Airport (ORL) will cease commercial passenger and private operations in anticipation of Hurricane Milton, this decision was made in coordination with our partners», - MCO said on its website. «The airport is not closed and will remain open to receive emergency/relief and humanitarian flights as needed».

The city is home to many tourist attractions, including Walt Disney World, SeaWorld, and Universal Studios Resort.

Walt Disney World Resort is not fully closing, as confirmed on Monday, October 7. However, various resort locations will temporarily close on October 9 and remain closed until the end of the week.

«We are closely monitoring the path of the anticipated storm, and the safety of our guests and employees remains our top priority», - the parks' statement read. «Walt Disney World Resort is currently operating as usual and will continue to operate on Tuesday, October 8. We will make changes based on the latest weather forecasts and some areas with unique environments».
