The performer joined a tour with two of the biggest music superstars. Gracie was the opening act on the 2022 Olivia Rodrigo «Sour Tour», which ran from April 2022 to July 2022. Then, in 2023, Gracie opened for over a dozen shows on the first American leg of Taylor Swift’s «Eras Tour».

Hollywood Life has all the updates on Gracie Abrams below. Keep reading to find out all about the talented singer, including who her famous father is.

Gracie Madigan Abrams, born on September 7, 1999, is an American singer and songwriter. She released her debut single «Mean It» in 2019, followed by «Stay». In 2020, she released her debut EP «Minor», which included songs like «Long Sleeves», «Friend», «I Miss You, I’m Sorry», and others. She promoted the release with appearances on late shows and continued to work on her career during the pandemic. She collaborated with Benny Blanco for his album «Friends Keep Secrets 2», joining him on the single «Unlearn». In 2021, she also released songs like «Mess It Up», «Feels Like», and «Rockland», a song she co-wrote with Aaron Dessner (a member of The National, who composed and produced Taylor Swift’s albums «folklore» and «evermore»). In 2023, Gracie released her album «Good Riddance», which earned her a Grammy nomination at the 2024 ceremony.

Gracie is the daughter of J.J. Abrams and Katie McGrath. J.J. is best known as the director of films like «Cloverfield», «Star Wars: The Force Awakens», the 2009 reboot of «Star Trek», and others. He also created TV shows like «Alias», «Lost», and «Fringe», and has been involved in several other projects. Katie is also a producer, as she has worked with his and J.J.'s company Bad Robot Productions, as well as the McGrath Abrams Family Foundation.

«Even the faint knowledge of it that I had as a child made me not want to have anything to do with it at all», - Gracie said about her parents' business in an interview with Riff Magazine. «When I started falling in love with music independently of all other factors in my life, it was kind of a pleasant surprise because I actively tried to avoid everything they were associated with. I — lovingly — wanted nothing to do with them».

At 8 years old, Gracie started taking drum lessons. She then learned to play the piano, and later the guitar, considering them more suitable for her songwriting. Her protective parents allowed her to post music on her SoundCloud and required her to keep her Instagram private. When she made her account public, her career took off — leading to some amazing connections. Lorde even messaged Gracie privately, asking to download one of her songs.

«She's definitely an artist in my life that I will forever feel like I owe everything to», - Gracie said in an interview with Riff, talking about Lorde. «Sonically and thematically [Pure Heroine] changed my life. I remember being with my family in the living room, and I refreshed my Instagram, and saw that she followed me. I had a crazy physical reaction, like I started sweating immediately».

«One of my favorite artists and one of the coolest people — Gracie Abrams, who just released her debut EP a couple of months ago», - Olivia said in an interview with Zane Lowe on Apple Music in January 2021. «It's called Minor, and she’s absolutely amazing, I love the whole album. She’s signed to my label, so they’re like, 'Oh, we’ll introduce you'. And I’m like, 'I literally don’t think I can meet her. I’ll just evaporate. I’m her biggest fan'. I’ve heard the best reviews, and I messaged her on Instagram, and told her that 'Driver's License' was so inspired by her, and she said, 'Oh, that’s amazing'».

«This is my songwriting oasis room», - Olivia said in an interview with Elle in May 2021. Olivia «created a little shrine» for all the «singer-songwriters she admires». Among this homemade 'Hall of Fame' were Taylor Swift, Gwen Stefani, Alanis Morissette, and, of course, Gracie Abrams". Simon Riback, head of A&R at Interscope — part of the company that
