Hannah Dorothy is proof that when music comes from the heart, nothing, not even hearing loss, can stop it from reaching the world. The British singer-songwriter, who began losing her hearing at the age of 32 — the same age when she decided to immerse herself in songwriting — turned what many would see as a setback into her ultimate superpower. Today, Hannah is one of the most celebrated songwriters in Europe, creating hits with every particle of her heart.

One of the songs that further solidified Hannah’s reputation as a sought-after international songwriter is «Masterpiece», - a stunning ballad performed by Norwegian star Atle Pettersen at Melodi Grand Prix — a tough competition, a national television selection for the Eurovision Song Contest. And the story behind this song is as touching as the lyrics themselves.

Imagine: a cozy music studio in Malmo, where Hannah was on a writing trip with renowned producer Andreas Stone. In walked Atle, glowing with the genuine radiance of a new father — he had just welcomed his first daughter. Sensing the magic of the moment, Hannah was ready.

«I sat down and said, 'Atle, I have an idea: Masterpiece. It’s about your daughter. She is your greatest creation, your masterpiece,'» Hannah recalls. The idea instantly resonated with Atle.

Atle was intrigued, but he smirked and joked, «If we’re writing about my daughter, you have to make it the best lyrics you’ve ever written. Don’t go easy on me!» Hannah says. «He was only half joking — the most important lyrics of my career for the most important person in his life!» she says.

What followed was the magic of songwriting. The trio poured their hearts into «Masterpiece», - drawing on Atle’s deep love for his daughter and Hannah’s incredible ability to translate pure emotions into words. Despite partial hearing loss, Hannah felt they were creating something special. «We were all in tears at the end of the session», - she says. «That's when you know it’s real, and we did our job».

When Atle brought «Masterpiece» to the MGP stage, it became the moment of the season. This heartfelt ballad took second place among the international jury and instantly became a favorite of the audience. Eurovision fans flooded social media with praise, calling it a «love anthem» and «the most touching song of the contest». Many insisted it should have been Norway’s ticket to the big stage because of its universal message and raw emotional depth.

But «Masterpiece» was not actually Hannah’s first success at Melodi Grand Prix. By the time the song captured hearts, Hannah had already made a name for herself a year earlier as a co-writer of the song «Dangerous», - performed by Farida. The dark, atmospheric pop track quickly became one of the most popular songs in the competition, earning a coveted spot in the MGP grand final. Praised for its mystical melody and emotional intensity, «Dangerous» not only left its mark on Eurovision fans but also found a place in the popular Netflix series «Oslo Gang». This success further solidified Hannah’s reputation as a songwriter whose songs resonate far beyond the stage, proving that her stories can connect with audiences in both music and film.

Hannah also showcased her songwriting skills by co-writing the recent hit «Takes You Back» with American artist and popular YouTuber Brian Lanning. The collaboration combined Brian’s soulful pop-country sound with Hannah’s heartfelt lyrics, creating a track that fans can’t stop listening to. Known for his authenticity and connection with his massive online audience, Brian found in Hannah the perfect creative partner. Together, they created a nostalgic and inspiring summer anthem that captures the bittersweet feeling of returning to precious memories.

But «Takes You Back» was not Hannah’s first foray into country music. Many first discovered her as a breakthrough country-pop artist with her debut single «Never Again». The track rose to 2nd place on UK iTunes country charts
