Swank and Schneider married in 2018 in a redwood grove in Carmel, California, after he proposed to her during a trip to Colorado. Four years later, the actress announced that they were expecting twins. In 2023, they welcomed fraternal twins named Aja and Oum.

Swank has shared her feelings about motherhood, noting that it is something she has wanted for a long time.
