Hoda Kotb enjoyed a long tenure in one of the most high-profile roles on NBC as the host of the popular show TODAY. During her time on the show, alongside (at different times) Kathie Lee Gifford, Jenna Bush Hager, and Savannah Guthrie, she adopted two children, got engaged, then separated from co-parent Joel Schiffman, and made a name for herself at home.
Kotb described a shift in perspective after turning 60 in August 2024. She announced that she would be leaving in September. According to TODAY, she realized it was time to dedicate more energy to raising her daughters, Haley and Hope, and her mother, Sameha Kotb. «My broadcasting career has been beyond meaningful, a new decade of life lies ahead of me, and now my daughters and my mom need and deserve a bigger chunk of my time», - she said in a farewell letter on the Today website. «I will miss all of you immensely, but I am ready and excited».
According to NPR, Hoda Kotb hosted the TODAY show on NBC for 17 years until her last day on January 10, 2025. She worked at the network for 26 years. According to the news agency, she worked as a correspondent for NBC News and Dateline NBC before becoming the host of the fourth hour. Over the years, she was accompanied by several high-profile co-hosts, including Kathie Lee Gifford, Savannah Guthrie, and Jenna Bush Hager.
According to the New York Post, journalist Craig Melvin will take Kotb’s place on TODAY. Before a final decision is made on the lineup of hosts, rotating panels of co-hosts will appear on the program Today With Hoda & Jenna
