Donald Trump faced multiple articles of impeachment just three months into his presidency. The 78-year-old Republican came under criticism for a number of reasons, including the harsh deportation policies of his administration and controversial comments regarding foreign affairs.
Below are updates on the articles of impeachment against Trump and information about the process.
After articles of impeachment are introduced against the president, the House of Representatives must approve them by a majority vote and send them to the Senate. The Senate will then conduct a high court impeachment trial to consider evidence and vote for the conviction or acquittal of the impeached official.
When Trump ignores the Constitution, Congress, and the courts, he is not «fighting for America». He is destroying it and endangering our democracy. pic.twitter.com/40iBTZKjkC

Democratic member of the U.S. House of Representatives Shri Tanedar introduced several articles of impeachment against Trump on April 28, 2025. He accused the president of the following: Obstruction of justice and abuse of executive power, Strengthening appropriations powers, Abuse of trade powers and international aggression, Violation of First Amendment rights, Creation of an illegal office, Bribery and corruption, and tyrannical abuse of power.
«Donald Trump has repeatedly demonstrated that he is unworthy of holding the office of president and poses a clear and immediate threat to our nation’s constitution and democracy», - Tanedar said. «His unlawful actions have undermined the justice system, violated the principle of separation of powers, and placed personal power and interests above public service. We cannot wait for more harm to be done. Congress must act».
However, Congress is filled with GOP members, so it is unlikely that the Republican House of Representatives will unanimously consider the articles of impeachment.
In response to the articles of impeachment, White House press secretary Liz Haston insisted in a statement quoted by Fox News that «every action taken by President Trump and his administration is fully lawful and firmly rooted in the will of the American people. President Trump is doing exactly what he promised: securing our border, attracting trillions of dollars in investments to America, and restoring sanity to leadership. Meanwhile, Democrats once again show where their true priorities lie — standing on the side of illegal immigrants at the expense of the security, protection, and well-being of hardworking American citizens. Their desperate impeachment stunt is nothing more than a dangerous political act through which the American people see through».
Tanedar is a Democrat and a member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Michigan’s 13th congressional district. Born and raised in India, he eventually moved to the United States to earn a Ph.D. from the University of Akron. Tanedar became a U.S. citizen by 1988 and ran for governor of Michigan in 2018
