Former «Grey's Anatomy» star Isaiah Washington commented on the sudden death of his wife, Jenisa Marie Garland, which occurred in 2025. In his Instagram post, he shared that his spouse, with whom he spent 29 years, passed away on June 9, 2025, after suffering a massive hemorrhagic stroke on May 31.
Washington noted that this was a huge shock for him and the entire family. He urged people not to ignore headaches that could be symptoms of more serious illnesses and recommended getting brain scans. According to him, Jenisa left behind three wonderful children who will carry on her legacy.
The couple married on February 14, 1996, after meeting at a dinner in Los Angeles and raised three children: Taiyma, Iman, and Isaiah V. Jenisa, a former model, remained in the background during Washington’s career, who became known for his role as surgeon Preston Burke on «Grey's Anatomy».
In 2022, Washington spoke about how his family influenced his choice of roles in film. He claimed that he would prefer not to kiss women on screen to avoid having to explain to his daughter why he was doing it.
