A fan who harassed Jason Kelsey’s wife, Kylie Kelsey, for refusing to take a photo with her, apologized in a statement received by WPVI on Thursday.
«I said things that are not characteristic of me, and for that I am sorry… My anger and actions do not reflect who I am, and certainly do not characterize the friendly community of Margate. As an adult and proud member of my community, I should have recognized and respected their right to privacy from the start. I am deeply grateful for the mercy and understanding shown to me by the Kelseys», - the fan told the publication.
This apology came just two days after the video of the altercation went viral. Jason and Kylie were on a date in New Jersey when the fan asked for a photo, and after the mother of three children — Wyatt, Elliott, and Bennett — declined, the fan told Kylie that she would «never be able to come back to this town».
But it didn’t stop there. Jason stood by and watched as Kylie confronted the woman face to face and replied, «I can smell alcohol from your mouth… You are embarrassing yourself».
In addition to the public apology, Margate City Mayor in New Jersey, Michael Collins, came to Kylie’s defense, stating: «As a father of young children, I know how important it is to spend an evening alone with your wife, and I would like to offer a dinner date on me».
Shortly before the mayor’s statement, the fan’s husband told Chris O’Connell of FOX 20 in Philadelphia that the full context was not shown.
Despite this altercation happening in public view, the couple did not discuss the incident. Former Philadelphia Eagles center did not mention it during Friday’s episode of his podcast with his brother and Kansas City Chiefs tight end, Travis Kelsey. «We had a great time… We went to the beach, had a lot of fun with the girls, ate a lot of beach food… It was great to be there», - the ESPN commentator shared
