Jared Padalecki about the new changes on The CW: «This is not the same channel as before»

Actor Jared Padalecki expressed his opinion on the changes at The CW channel. During a recent interview, the 41-year-old actor was «brutally honest» about the network’s new direction, which broadcasted both of Jared’s most popular shows — «Walker» and «Supernatural».
«I feel like The CW, which I was a part of last year, is not the same CW that I was a part of under [former CEO] Mark Pedowitz for almost 20 years», - Jared explained to Variety magazine in an interview published on Wednesday, June 26.
He stated that The CW is «just changing the network, where it’s not going to be as much a television network as it’s going to be, 'Here's something fun for an hour that you’ll never watch again, but hopefully you’ll watch. And it’s cheap!'»
«And I hate to say it, but I’m just telling the truth», - Jared continued, adding, «Damn it. They can’t fire me again. I’m just brutally honest. It felt like they were looking for really light, cheap content to fill time».
«Walker» was recently canceled after four seasons. The show joined a number of other series distributed by The CW that were also not renewed, including «Winchesters» and «Gotham Knights». Jared’s former partner from «Supernatural» Jensen Ackles produced «Winchesters», and Misha starred in «Gotham Knights». Both shows were canceled after one season.
Nexstar Media Group acquired a significant stake in The CW in 2022 and introduced unscripted shows on the platform. During the new interview, Jared noted that he had spoken with both the head of CBS Studios and the head of Nexstar/The CW, calling the network’s new direction a «multifaceted problem» from his perspective.
«My understanding — and again, this is just what I’m told — is that Nexstar is going in a different direction with The CW», - said the actor from «Gilmore Girls». «I mean, they’re going to have an hour of Trivial Pursuit and an hour of Scrabble»
