Jay-Z opened the ceremony introducing Tom Brady into the New England Hall of Fame

Jay-Z kicked off the celebration of Tom Brady’s induction into the New England Patriots Hall of Fame on Wednesday, June 12. Jay, 54, made a surprise appearance to start the party at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts. During his song, Tom, 46, entered the field and walked in front of the stage.
As people on the field were still finding their seats, the introduction to Jay’s song «Public Service Announcement (Interlude)» could be heard. Given that the song from The Black Album is done in a PSA style, a voiceover was heard before Jay started with the classic opening line: «Allow me to reintroduce myself/My name is Hov», - he rapped.
After finishing the first verse of the song, screens showed Tom entering, and the crowd applauded. Jay congratulated the former Patriots quarterback before moving on to the next verse. «Put one hand in the air for the GOAT [Greatest of All Time], Mr. Tom Brady tonight!» he shouted.
The induction ceremony marked Tom’s long career with the Patriots, but it came just weeks after the Super Bowl champion was the subject of jokes during the Netflix show «The Greatest Roast of All Time». Several former teammates and colleagues, such as Robert Kraft and Bill Belichick, were present at the induction ceremony, just as they were at the roast.
In addition to Tom’s induction ceremony, Jay-Z's appearance also marked a rare live performance from him, his first in almost a year. Prior to honoring the quarterback’s career, Jay-Z's last public performance was in June 2023 in Paris at the celebration of Pharrell Williams' debut as creative director of Louis Vuitton. Earlier that same year, he performed at another Louis Vuitton event, but he has been very cautious about live performances since 2019. His last full concert performance was in April of that year at Webster Hall in New York. He also made a guest appearance during Pharrell’s performance at the Something in the Water festival in Washington
