His entertainment company, Roc Nation, began producing the Super Bowl halftime show in 2019, but he has never been a headliner until now. NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell stated that during the initial agreement with Roc Nation, he had only one request: for JAY-Z to take the stage himself when the time was right. Goodell expressed his excitement that fans would be able to see JAY-Z's artistry and cultural influence on the Super Bowl stage.
It is worth noting that JAY-Z's wife, Beyoncé, headlined the show in 2013.
