Jake has been married to his wife Margaret «Maggie» Goodlander since 2015.
Like her husband, Maggie is involved in politics, working as an intelligence officer in the US Marine Corps Reserve, eventually attaining the rank of lieutenant after 11 years of service, as a foreign policy advisor in the Senate, a judicial assistant at the Supreme Court, and an advisor on the House Judiciary Committee during Donald Trump’s first impeachment.
After leaving her position as chief of staff to President Joe Biden, Goodlander was elected as the US Representative for New Hampshire’s second congressional district in the 2024 elections. She is expected to take office in January 2025.
Maggie and Jake currently do not have children. During her campaign for Congress in mid-2024, Maggie revealed that she had a miscarriage, losing what would have been their first child.
«My husband Jake and I, we tried to start a family», - Maggie said in her statement in mid-2024. «But when I was almost 20 weeks pregnant, we found out that we lost our little boy. … I started to go into labor and delivered my baby myself. He died on Easter».
The elected representative then pointed to the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, which occurred as a result of the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization case in 2022.
«This is where the consequences of the Supreme Court’s decision in Dobbs became very, very real for me», - the politician explained, referring to her miscarriage. «It is wrong that women in this state and across the country are being denied basic medical services that they need and deserve, and I want to fight for these freedoms every day, as much as I can»
