Matt Eberflus is known for his coaching career in the NFL, but he is also a husband and father. The former Chicago Bears coach kept his personal life away from the public eye. However, his wife previously shared their love story and how they raise their two children.

Matt is married to his wife, Kelly Eberflus. According to multiple sources, the couple met while studying at the University of Toledo, where Matt played football for the school team. He was inducted into their Hall of Fame in 2004.
During a conversation with Matt’s former team, the Indianapolis Colts, in 2019, Kelly admitted that she grew up in a football family and therefore knew about this world even before falling in love with her husband.
«I grew up on the football field. It’s really all I know», - Kelly explained. «My grandfather played in the NFL and coached. My father played in college and coached high school football for many years. I literally grew up going to his practices in the summer, sitting on the field, and climbing up into the old wooden press boxes».
Kelly then talked about meeting Matt, which happened around the time he started coaching instead of staying on the field.
«When I first met Matt, he didn’t want to coach», - Kelly pointed out. «It wasn’t what he went to school for, but he redshirted a year, so he had another year. He was a student assistant and loved it. He was a graduate assistant for a year, and then Gary Pinkel, who was the coach at Toledo, hired him full-time».
Matt worked as a student assistant coach at Toledo in 1992, then as a graduate assistant in 1993. From 1994 to 1995, he was the recruiting coordinator and coach of the outside linebackers at Toledo. He then moved on to coaching the outside linebackers from 1996 to 1998. From 1999 to 2000, Matt worked as the defensive coach at Toledo before pursuing a career in the NFL.
«When he was a young coach, he had to learn to handle wins and losses equally», - Kelly said about her husband’s coaching days in college. «I remember telling him once, 'You better figure this out before we have kids.'»
Matt and Kelly are raising two daughters together. According to multiple sources, their daughters are named Grace and Giada.
During Kelly’s interview with the Colts in 2019, she recalled how she and Matt’s daughters grew up watching their father coach in the big league.
«He would come home after a game, and the girls would dress him up and play beautiful, beautiful princess», - Kelly said. «It was a great balance». She then joked that people would ask the couple, «Are you trying to have a boy? Don’t you want a boy?» and their response was, «No. He has boys. He has more testosterone than he needs»
