14 april 2025 в 18:13
Who runs the world? Girls! That’s right — female empowerment is at its peak, especially now, as the latest Blue Origin mission features a fully female crew of influential leaders. Among them are Lauren Sanchez, Gayle King, Amanda Nguyen, Aisha Bowe, Kerian Flynn, and, of course, superstar Katy Perry. Yes, you heard that right!
The «California Gurl» herself was ecstatic about the journey, sharing on Instagram: «I've been dreaming of going to space for 15 years, and tomorrow that dream becomes a reality». On April 14, 2025, the «Firework» singer joined other pioneers on the mission, which captured the world’s attention. So, what inspired her to join the NS-31 Blue Origin flight? And what does it all mean?
Blue Origin launched from Van Horn, Texas, at 8:30 am Central Time (9:30 am Eastern Time).
The inclusion of Katy Perry and several other outstanding women was aimed at highlighting the growing opportunities in space tourism. The mission is intended to demonstrate Blue Origin’s vision that one day, citizens will be able to safely and regularly travel to space using their rocket system.
In addition to the broader mission goals, each woman had personal motivations for participating. According to an Instagram post by Elle, Katy said: «I'm flying for my daughter Daisy, to inspire her to never put limits on her dreams and show her that anyone can achieve their dreams. Regardless of your background, ethnicity, economic status, or level of education». She added: «She's already such a big dreamer, and she’s only four years old. But also to inspire a whole new generation and make space and science cool».
As Jeff Bezos wrote on the Blue Origin website, «It is our generation’s task to build the road to space so that future generations can unleash their creativity».
The mission will last only 10 minutes
