Jeremy Renner found one mission impossible when he was asked to play the role of William Brandt in the film «Mission: Impossible — Ghost Protocol». During a recent appearance on the podcast «Happy-Sad-Confused», - the 53-year-old movie star revealed that the reason for his refusal to return to Tom Cruise’s action franchise was his daughter, Ava.
After podcast host Josh Horowitz asked the actor of «The Hurt Locker» why he only appeared in two films from the franchise, Jeremy explained that a film of such scale would distract him from taking care of his 11-year-old child.
«There was no schedule, so I couldn’t leave for a year and a half. I need to be a father», - Jeremy said. «I couldn’t just bring my daughter here because her mom — you know, I was stuck here. I couldn’t shoot abroad anymore».
The «Hawkeye» star shares custody of his daughter with his ex-wife Sonni Pacheco. Jeremy appeared in the films «Mission: Impossible — Ghost Protocol» and «Rogue Nation».
In another interview, Jeremy also noted that he was asked to fly to another country for a week just to have his character killed off.
«I remember they were trying to bring me there for a week to kill my character, and I said, 'No, you’re not going to do that. You’re not going to drag me there and just kill my character,'» Jeremy joked, adding, «If you’re going to use my character, do it right».
The Avengers superhero even admitted to «yelling at [director Christopher McQuarrie]» for attempting to kill off his character.
«Dude, you’re not going to do me like that; you’re not going to do me wrong», - Jeremy jokingly added.
When asked if he was going to take over Tom’s place as the new leader of «Mission: Impossible», - Jeremy quickly clarified, «No, it has always been Tom’s show. It would be Tom’s decision if he ever wanted to change that story»
