Jeremy Renner shows all his scars after a near-fatal snowmobile accident in 2023 for a new profile in Men’s Health magazine, published on Tuesday, June 25. The 53-year-old star of «The Town» posed topless on the cover, showing some scars left on him by the incident. After breaking 38 bones and suffering other terrible injuries, Jeremy opened up about his path to recovery and how the incident changed his outlook on life.
In the shirtless photos, which can be seen here, some of Marvel star’s scars on his chest and arms were visible. It was also clear to see a wound that had mostly healed on his back. Although the scars were visible, he also looked like he had gained a lot of muscle during the recovery process.
In the interview, Jeremy spoke candidly about the different thoughts that came to his mind when he was pinned by the snowmobile, including how difficult it was for him to even breathe with broken ribs and a punctured lung. He also recalled being in the hospital and in the ICU, and how he communicated with his family in the days after the incident.
The «Hawkeye» star also described his workouts, but admitted that he sometimes experiences cramps due to the incident. He said that returning to work on his show «Mayor of Kingstown» was difficult, but he promised to continue on the path to recovery. «The last thing I wanted to do — honestly, I almost backed out of this show — was to be fake», - he told Men’s Health. «I need to live in real reality here, because these bones and joints — and I need to say fake lines and fake words and pretend… what? I don’t have time to pretend, dude! So here’s how I changed it, because I only have control over my perspective: I come to Pittsburgh to heal in my body and get better every damn day, and I’ll do this show on the sidelines. Instead of the other way around».
In the interview, he also talked about how the near-death situation and being hooked up to life support changed his view on mortality. «Let this body die. Believe me: it was much better to be out of it. To be dead», - he said. «I'm glad I’m here, and I will continue to feed what you take with you: those shared experiences with those you love. It’s eternal, and you take it with you. It’s connected. No time, place, or space. It’s magnificent. It’s the mind’s eye. Not your vision».
Jeremy also explained how the incident gave him a new lease on life, and he will cherish everything that happens to him. «Oh, God. I will never have a bad day again, man», - he said.
Since the snowmobile incident, Jeremy has opened up about his experience in several interviews and shares updates on his progress on social media along the way. While he took a break to recover from the incident, he is set to return to the big screen in the upcoming film «Knives Out 2»
