Jodie Sweetin seems to have subtly criticized her former «Full House» co-star Candace Cameron Bure, defending the performance of drag artists at the opening ceremony of the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. Just a day after the 48-year-old Candace spoke out against the inclusion of drag artists on social media, 42-year-old Jodie posted a political sketch parodying the absurd controversy surrounding the performance.

For those who may have missed the opening ceremony, part of the performance included drag artists and a feast inspired by Dionysus. Dionysus is the Greek god of wine, fertility, religious ecstasy, and much more. During the performance, drag queens lined up on one side of a table, some conservative Christians incorrectly interpreted this as a parody of Leonardo da Vinci’s painting «The Last Supper», - depicting the biblical story of Jesus Christ’s dinner with his apostles. Of course, there is no person covered in blue paint at the center of this painting, and the publication of this image caused outrage among those who carefully watched the last part of the performance.

Jodie shared a video of political comedian Walter Masterson, parodying the outrage surrounding this and how malicious actors easily manipulate people, causing outrage. «Tell me you know nothing about art or history without telling me you know nothing about art and history», - she wrote, thanking the comedian.

After the games, Candace posted a video saying that the ceremony «mocked» Christians and made her «very sad». She noted that people pointed to the connection with Dionysus, but she did not see how the Greek god is related to the Olympics, originating from ancient Greece. «Dionysus; god of lust, madness, religious ecstasy, ritual madness, etc. I still don’t see how this is related to uniting the world through competitive sports and suitable for children. Anyway, I don’t buy it», - she said.

Although Jodie did not name her «Fuller House» colleague, she seemed to criticize Candace for her conservative views several times. Candace even unfollowed Jodie on social media after the backlash.

Jodie is not the only former colleague of Candace who defended the opening ceremony. Mentioned «The View» host Whoopi Goldberg gave the perfect response to critics during Monday’s episode of the show. «It's the Olympics! Stop it! They’re not trying to do anything except tell a story. They’re showing you history», - she said.

Opening ceremony director Thomas Jolly explained that there was no intention to mock Christians during an interview with BFMTV. «The idea was to create a big pagan party related to the god of Olympus, and you will never find in me or my work a desire to mock anyone», - he said
