Joe Rogan is set to conduct an interview with Donald Trump for his podcast «The Joe Rogan Experience» in his studio in Austin, Texas, this Friday, according to several media reports.

Rogan, a former host of the reality show «Fear Factor» on NBC in the mid-2000s, has around 17.5 million subscribers on YouTube and 19.3 million followers on Instagram. With his approximately 15 million listeners on Spotify, he reaches an impressive audience of around 52 million people.

Here’s what you need to know about the relationship between the comedian and the Republican candidate.

Originally from New Jersey, Rogan is a versatile American comedian, podcast host, and mixed martial arts commentator. He first gained fame as a stand-up comedian and cast member on NewsRadio in the 1990s. Later, he became widely known for hosting The Joe Rogan Experience, his popular podcast where he engages in long conversations with various guests, including comedians, actors, scientists, and politicians. By 2020, he had signed one of the largest licensing deals in the industry with Spotify, where he continues to dominate the world of podcasting.

In addition to his podcasting career, Rogan is a prominent commentator for the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) and has a strong background in martial arts, holding black belts in Brazilian jiu-jitsu and taekwondo.

Trump has never appeared on Rogan’s podcast, and they have a complex relationship. However, Rogan’s team invited both presidential candidates to the show. While they communicated with representatives of Kamala Harris' campaign, the appearance of the Democratic presidential candidate on the podcast will not happen due to scheduling conflicts.

Rogan has stated that he does not consider himself a conservative, even describing himself as a «bleeding-heart liberal in many ways» in a 2022 episode with comedian Andrew Schulz. He emphasized, «I'm so far from a Republican. Just because I believe in the Second Amendment and just because I support the military and just because I support the police [doesn't mean I’m a Republican]».

In the past, Rogan has also criticized Trump, calling him a «significant threat to democracy» in July 2022. He has also mentioned that he has refused to invite Trump to his podcast several times, saying, «I've turned him down every time. I don’t want to help him».

However, recently Rogan has noted some positive aspects of Trump’s presidency, acknowledging that the economy performed well during that time, and that Trump made efforts to address various national issues.

Additionally, Rogan and Trump have common allies, including Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who supported Trump after dropping out of the presidential race, and billionaire tech entrepreneur Elon Musk.

Although the release date of the episode with Trump has not been announced, the show usually does minimal editing and publishes episodes quickly, often on the same day as the recording, according to Lulu Cheng Meservey, Vice President of Communications at Substack.

According to JRELibrary.com, the podcast is recorded a few days before release, with episodes typically coming out daily at 1:00 pm Eastern Time from Tuesday to Friday, and sometimes on Saturdays
