Jon Bon Jovi revived his tour at the grand opening of his new bar JBJ’s Nashville on Saturday, June 8. The 62-year-old performer performed five songs at the five-story restaurant despite voice problems.
Bon Jovi performed his best hits — «Blood on Blood», «We Weren’t Born To Follow», «You Give Love a Bad Name», «Born to Be My Baby», and «Legendary» — for the visitors.
This stage appearance came shortly after the musician stopped touring due to vocal cord problems. He felt that his last tour in 2022 «went well», - but his wife, Dorothea Hurley, told him the truth that «it wasn’t great, and I saw how great you were».
Having a heartfelt conversation, Jon realized it was time to be realistic. «If this is supposed to end, I just had to accept it and say, 'I've had an incredible career. It doesn’t mean I won’t be able to write you a song tomorrow, it just means I won’t be doing a hundred shows on tour,'» he told People magazine in April. Bon Jovi later released their new album Forever on June 7.
For Jon, leaving the tours was a big heartbreak. «What brought me so much joy was taken away from me… Joy is something you have to work at, right? Happiness is something you do. It’s no longer about seizing the day. I think it’s about embracing the day. I don’t need to punch it in the face anymore, I just embrace it, and that’s a good place», - he told the magazine.
Despite procedures and doctor visits, it didn’t stop the rock star from living his dream. «I can sing. What I may not be able to do is two and a half hours every night, four nights a week… but I’m striving to get that back», - he admitted.
When it comes to performing, it’s the most important thing for an artist. «If I can’t be great, I’m out», - he expressed in his documentary film «Thank You, Goodnight: The Story of Bon Jovi»
