Jordan Chiles finally broke her silence after the scandalous decision by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) to strip the American gymnast of her Olympic bronze medal.

«I have no words. This decision seems unfair and is a serious blow, not only to me, but to everyone who supported my journey», - the 23-year-old athlete wrote in a statement published on Instagram on Thursday.

«To the heartbreak is added unwelcome racist attacks on social media, which are wrong and extremely hurtful. I have put my heart and soul into this sport, and I am proud to represent my culture and my country».

Chiles faced disappointing appeals from Olympic committees regarding the results of the women’s floor final during the Summer Games in Paris on August 5. The Olympic champion, who also won gold in the team final with Simone Biles, Sunisa Lee, Jade Carey, and MyKayla Skinner in Paris, said she is now facing one of the most difficult moments of her career.

«While I was celebrating my Olympic achievements, I heard devastating news that my bronze medal had been taken away», - Chiles said. She stated that she «believed in the appeal filed by USAG, which provided conclusive evidence that my score complied with all the rules». However, «this appeal ultimately proved unsuccessful».

Despite facing this difficult moment, Chiles did not forget to mention her support system.

«I am immensely grateful to my family, teammates, coaches, fans, USAG, and USOPC for their unwavering support during this difficult time», - Chiles shared, before concluding: «I will approach this challenge like any other — and do everything possible to ensure justice».

«I believe that at the end of this journey, those in power will make the right decision».

Last week, CAS ruled that Chiles' coach, Cecile Landi, was four seconds late in requesting a review of her score during the final. The request, which was accepted at the time, corrected an undervaluation that earned her the bronze medal.

The Romanian National Olympic Committee protested the decision, triggering a chain of events that led to the demand to return Chiles' medal so it could be redistributed to Romanian gymnast Ana Barbosu, who retrospectively took third place in the competition.

USA Gymnastics stated that they are fighting the decision and noted several issues with the procedures. They also provided video evidence with timestamps showing that Chiles' coach made the request within 47 seconds, well before the one-minute deadline. However, the court confirmed that its rules do not allow for a review of its decisions, even in light of new evidence
