Julia Fox revealed the only positive thing she took from her past relationship with her ex-boyfriend Kanye «Ye» West. During a conversation with Jon Caramanica on the «Popcast» program of The New York Times on Wednesday, June 5, the 34-year-old actress from the movie «Uncut Gems» admitted that she had «completely regained control of her image» after her relationship with the 46-year-old rapper.
«You know, it was actually a blessing that he came into my life», - Julia said, adding, «because he kind of shook up my team in a way that gave me back a lot of creative control. While I felt pressure to pretend to be a Hollywood starlet that I wasn’t».
The model recalled arguing with her team about her public image, noting that she was «very upset» when they didn’t listen to her.
«I argued about it and was very upset about it, but ultimately always gave in and did what they wanted because it was easier than arguing», - Julia continued. «And then [Ye] came and said, 'Wait a minute, screw this, I’m going to do what I want.'»
Since Ye and Julia’s relationship didn’t last, she shared what happened after their breakup.
«But when he left, I thought, 'Well, I’m going to do what I want,' you know?» Julia added. «I felt like 'Oh, the world is at my feet.' I am my own muse».
Although Ye helped open more doors for her, Julia acknowledged online disputes over the attention she received, attributing them to her past romance with the Grammy winner.
«And then I started hearing this: 'She's successful in fashion only because of Kanye, it’s Kanye,'» Julia pointed out. «And I thought, 'No, these are my creations, and I put them together.' So I felt like I needed to push back against that and prove that I do this, and I didn’t do it before because my team wanted me to look ordinary».
Julia and Ye dated briefly in 2022. The following year, she spoke about their short-lived relationship in her memoir «Down the Drain»
