Julia Louis-Dreyfus commented on her co-star from the show «Seinfeld», Jerry Seinfeld, and his remarks about «extreme left and politically correct nonsense» through The New York Times. «If you look at comedy and drama, say, 30 years ago, through the lens of today, you can find pieces that don’t age well… And I think having an antenna to sensitivity — that’s not a bad thing. It doesn’t mean all humor should go away. When I hear people start complaining about political correctness — and I understand why people may resist it — but for me, it’s a warning sign, because sometimes it means something else. I think being attentive to certain sensitivities — that’s not bad. I don’t know how else to say it», - shared the 63-year-old actress.

Despite their long working relationship, Julia expressed her point of view on this issue and stated: «My opinion on all of this is that political correctness, as far as it equates to tolerance, is obviously fantastic… And, of course, I reserve the right to boo those who say something that offends me, while still preserving their right to free speech, right? But the big problem — and I think the real threat to art and creation afterwards — is the consolidation of money and power».

The actors of the 1989 show worked together for nine seasons and played the roles of Jerry Seinfeld and Elaine Benes. Along with them, Jason Alexander and Michael Richards also starred. Julia acknowledged that the show would not be made today because the comedy «offends other people» in our time.

«When we made Seinfeld, it really didn’t look like anything that was on the air at the time… It was just a group of losers who just hung out. So I would say that one of the main reasons why it wouldn’t be made now is because it’s hard to get recognition for something outstanding», - expressed the actress from the show «Veep».

As times have changed, the question arose as to whether comedy is now not shown well on television, when Jerry spoke on the New Yorker Radio Hour. «We did an episode of the show in the 90s where Kramer decides to start a business with homeless people pulling rickshaws, because, as he says, they’re all on the street anyway… Do you think I can show that episode now?» shared the 70-year-old actor.

Nevertheless, Julia recalled how Seinfeld will always be an important part of her life. «After the show ended, there was a real period of mourning, which was real and felt… Because we all loved each other so much», - she told People magazine in May 2023
