Julianne Hough criticized Bobby Bones' victory on Dancing With The Stars

Julianne Hough may be the current host of «Dancing with the Stars», - but during her time on the show as a judge and professional dancer, she recalled one champion who, in her opinion, should not have won and received the «mirror ball» trophy.
In a recent interview on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen, the 36-year-old star revealed that radio host Bobby Bones should not have won in the 27th season of the dance competition. The two-time winner of the «mirror ball» trophy expressed this opinion while sitting next to country singer Mickey Guyton, who first whispered her opinion. Hough immediately replied, «Oh, I agree with you! And I think it’s because of the fan base, right? It all depends on the fans in this show… He wasn’t the best dancer, I agree».
His victory with dance partner Sharna Burgess was controversial, as he received the lowest scores from judges at the time, Carrie Ann Inaba, Bruno Tonioli, and the late Len Goodman. Despite his lack of dance skills compared to other contestants, such as Disney’s Milo Manheim and Harry Potter star Evanna Lynch, Bones expressed in an interview for Good Housekeeping before his win: «Of all the remaining contestants, I’m the only one without real training experience… But I feel like that’s been my disadvantage all year, and we’ve found ways to use other aspects, you know, creatively».
He added, «I think the judges' scores and critiques are fair. I don’t think they want me to win, honestly. I think the judges want someone with more dance experience to win».
«Dancing with the Stars» is gearing up for a comeback. While the famous participants have not yet been announced, Julianne Hough will return as co-host alongside her former «mirror ball» trophy winner Alfonso Ribeiro. Reflecting on their partnership, Ribeiro told Entertainment Tonight in 2023, «Our chemistry, I think, will be fantastic. We’ve known each other for so long. She was a judge on my season… We’ve known each other for years, and our energy just feels so right». The judges will include 56-year-old Carrie Ann, as well as 68-year-old British-Italian choreographer Bruno Tonioli and Derek Hough
