Taylor Swift’s latest album has exceeded Donna Kelsey’s wildest dreams. After the Grammy winner released the album «The Tortured Poets Society» on April 19, Taylor, 34, received rave reviews from her boyfriend Travis Kelsey’s mom.
«I listened to the whole album and listened to it all morning when it came out», - Donna, 71, told PEOPLE magazine in an interview published on Thursday, April 25. «I was very impressed. She is a very talented woman, and I think this is probably her best work».
While much of Taylor’s 11th studio album likely focuses on her past relationships with Joe Alwyn and Matty Healy, many Swift fans believe there are some odes to her current romance with Travis.
In the song «Alchemy», - Taylor uses football imagery when mentioning what could have been a successful NFL season for the Kansas City Chiefs.
«So when I land, call the fans and cut them from the team / Get rid of the clowns, get the crown», - she sings. «Shirts off, and your friends lift you up / Beer stuck to the floor, applause, because they said / 'There was no chance to be the best in the league' / Where’s the trophy? It’s just running to me».
Before Travis and the Chiefs won the Super Bowl in 2024, Taylor could be seen cheering on her boyfriend throughout the season. Sometimes she watched the game from a luxury box at the stadium with his mom.
This week, Donna found herself far from the football field. Instead, she headed to Las Vegas to participate in the QVC «Age of Possibilities» summit.
She teamed up with QVC to become part of the Quintessential 50 network, a group of inspiring women who serve as examples of possibilities for women over 50. Kathy Lee Gifford, Queen Latifah, Jennie Garth, Martha Stewart, and Sandra Lee are some familiar faces who will also «offer fresh ideas to inspire and showcase all the possibilities that this time of life offers for women».
When asked by PEOPLE magazine if she had any advice for Taylor on aging, Donna replied, «She doesn’t need my advice on anything. Actually, I hope she gives me advice».
This is not the first time Donna has shared her thoughts on her son’s relationship with one of the world’s most popular singers. Speaking to WSJ. Magazine in November 2023, Donna said that Travis is «happier than I’ve seen him in a long time… God bless him, he reached for the stars!»
