The power of celebrities in marketing is well known. Celebrities bring additional attention, trust to the brand, and a significant increase in credibility. When a famous person advertises a product, it instantly grabs attention and generates consumer interest. People trust and buy products associated with their favorite celebrities, leading to increased sales and engagement. But did you know that celebrities can also enhance a brand’s organic SEO results?

Michael Melen, owner of the digital marketing agency SmartSites, explains: «Celebrities strengthen trust, backlinks, and visibility — all critical components in Google’s search algorithms». It’s no wonder that businesses owned by celebrities often dominate search results, consistently appearing on the first page for competitive keywords. Let’s look at how some celebrities have managed to dominate search rankings.

Sandwiched between Don Julio and Espolòn, Casamigos lands right in the middle of the first page of Google for the search term «tequila». How did they get there? Strong backlinks, such as a Yahoo Lifestyle article titled «Young George Clooney: 19 heartthrob photos over the years».

What do George Clooney’s images from the 1980s and 1990s have to do with good tequila? Not much — except that the article casually mentions (with a convenient backlink) Clooney’s Casamigos tequila. And for Google, that’s more than enough to secure a prime spot on the first page. That’s it!

Aviation Gin soars high, landing on the first page of Google for the search term «gin». It even has a featured snippet showing Ryan Reynolds' face, despite Reynolds selling the company four years ago.

Michael Melen explains: «Clicks and user experience on the page are strong signals for Google search rankings. Reynolds' face helps get the click, and his videos keep users on the page. Both are very strong influencers on search rankings».

So what’s the secret? Reynolds' charm and visibility. His face attracts clicks, and his engaging videos keep users, boosting Aviation Gin’s ranking. Success on the first page!

Dr. Dre topped the charts in the mid-1990s. He did it again in the mid-2010s with Beats By Dre. Acquired by Apple almost a decade ago for $ 3 billion, Beats by Dre continues to thrive thanks to its early SEO success. According to SEO software Ahrefs, BeatsByDre.com receives over 750,000 visitors from organic search alone. Impressive for any website, let alone a headphone manufacturer.

No celebrity list would be complete without Kim Kardashian, and this is no exception. Her brand Skims.com receives over 35 million visitors from organic search every year. Skims ranks first for high-value queries like «lingerie» and «shapewear».

Additionally, the Skims.com bra size calculator page attracts a quarter of a million visitors annually. That’s a link-building trick that any SEO specialist can appreciate!

This time, Dr. Dre’s business venture is climbing in the rankings.

Launched just five years ago, Mark Wahlberg’s clothing brand, Municipal, now generates over $ 1 million monthly from organic search, according to Ahrefs.

This success is largely thanks to Wahlberg’s star status, which attracted attention from major publications like People Magazine, Men’s Health, New York Post, and Entrepreneur. Additionally, Municipal enjoys significant exposure in «Wahl Street», - a documentary series produced by one of Wahlberg’s other companies and aired on HBO Max.

As Google algorithms continue to evolve, will celebrities continue to have such an impact on SEO? Does Google really think George Clooney makes the best tequila? Does Ryan Reynolds really make gin taste better? And if not Clooney or Reynolds, who is the best judge of good alcohol?
