Caleb Flynn found guilty of murdering his wife Ashley
Caleb Flynn, a former contestant on «American Idol», - has been found guilty of murdering his wife, Ashley Flynn. The verdict was delivered by the jury on September 29, as reported in a broadcast of the court proceedings on CourtTV.

Flynn, who is 40 years old, was convicted on nine charges, including aggravated murder, murder, felonious assault, and tampering with evidence. Court documents show that he broke down in tears when the verdict was read, after which he was led out of the courtroom.

According to CNN, Caleb did not plead guilty and now faces life in prison without the possibility of parole. His attorney, L. Patrick Mulligan, did not respond to a request for comment.

Prosecutors allege that Caleb staged Ashley’s murder in their home in Tipp City, Ohio, in February. Ashley, who was 37 years old, was shot while sleeping. During the trial, prosecutors presented text messages in which Caleb expressed a desire to kill his wife, sent to his mistress, Allegae Botner. She, now 24, testified against Caleb and read several of more than 100,000 messages exchanged between them.

Botner claimed that she did not mean her words seriously when she wrote, «I want to kill her», - referring to Ashley. The couple had a 15-year marriage and two daughters, who reportedly were sleeping in a nearby room during the murder. Ashley worked as a teacher and volleyball coach at Tippecanoe Middle School.

In closing arguments, Mulligan stated that the prosecution had not presented evidence proving that Caleb killed Ashley, but only demonstrated that he had an affair. He also noted that the weapon associated with the murder was missing. However, Miami County Prosecutor Paul Watkins stated that all evidence points to Caleb.

Sentencing is expected to take place on October 5.
