Kamala Harris was interrupted by a group of Palestinian protesters, causing her to silence them during her pre-election rally in Michigan.
On Wednesday, August 7, the 59-year-old Democratic presidential candidate was interrupted by a few troublemakers chanting, «Kamala, Kamala, you can’t hide! We won’t vote for genocide». This, of course, distracted the current vice president from her speech to address the protesters, who were referring to the war in Gaza.
«I am here because we believe in democracy. Every vote matters», - she said. «But right now, I am speaking. I am speaking now». A little later, she received a wave of applause when she expressed, «You know what? If you want Donald Trump to win, then say that. Otherwise, I am speaking». After her demand, the protesters were escorted out of the venue.
Kamala continued her speech alongside her running mate, Tim Walz. The female politician officially became the Democratic candidate on Monday, August 5, and later that same day her running mate was announced.
At their rally in Philadelphia, she expressed her enthusiasm for the journey she had begun: «Since the day I announced my candidacy, I have been looking for a partner who will help build this bright future — a leader who will help unite our nation and move forward; a fighter for the middle class; a patriot who believes, like me, in America’s amazing promise — the promise of freedom, opportunity, and justice not just for some, but for all. So, Pennsylvania, I am here today because I have found such a leader: Governor Tim Walz of the great state of Minnesota».
She continued: «To those who know him best, Tim is not just a governor. To his wife, Gwen, he is a husband. To his children, Hope and Gus, he is a father. To his former comrades, he is Sergeant Major Walz. For the residents of Southern Minnesota, for 12 years, he was a congressman. For his former high school students, he was Mr. Walz. And for his former high school football players, he was a coach. And in 91 days, the nation will know Coach Walz by another name: Vice President of the United States»
