Kamala Harris at the CNN town hall: Trump is a fascist, and I am a new generation of leaders

As the presidential elections approach, Kamala Harris joined host Anderson Cooper on CNN’s television forum in Pennsylvania on Wednesday evening. Donald Trump, who had previously expressed his intention to participate in the second presidential debate, declined both the debate and the invitation to join a similar forum.
At the forum, less than two weeks before the November 5th elections, the message from the Democratic candidate was clear: whatever you may consider bad, Trump is worse. Even in the absence of the former president, the vice president repeatedly referred to him as anti-democratic, unworthy of office, and a criminal.
When asked about the difficult situation of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, she quickly redirected her answer to sharp criticism of the Republican candidate.
«For many people who care about this issue, it is also important to lower food prices», - she said. «They also care about our democracy and having a President of the United States who admires dictators and is a fascist».
Here are some additional highlights from Harris' appearance on CNN’s forum.
When asked on Wednesday evening if she considers Trump a fascist, Harris immediately agreed with Cooper, saying, «Yes, I do».
She also highlighted senior military leaders who served under Trump and called him a fascist, including former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Mark Milley and former Chief of Staff of his administration, retired Marine Corps General John Kelly.
«I also believe that we should trust the people who know him best on this issue», - Harris said.
Harris faced repeated questions during the campaign about how and to what extent she would differ from President Joe Biden on policy. Although she often evaded these requests, after Biden stated on October 15th, «Every president must chart their own course», - Harris began signaling that she would not simply follow Biden, although she remains vague about specific policies that will differ.
She first expressed this during her interview on Fox News with Bret Baier last week, emphasizing that her «presidency will not be a continuation of Joe Biden’s presidency».
Harris confirmed these feelings on Wednesday evening, stating, «My administration will not be a continuation of Biden’s administration. I bring my own ideas and experience to this role. I represent a new generation of leaders on various issues and believe we need to adopt new approaches».
Although Harris has not made a strong impression on conservative voters, especially on border and immigration issues, it is clear that she is seeking to attract votes from Republican party voters, especially those who are undecided about Trump.
Her first notable attempt was during an interview with conservative channel Fox News, followed by her remarks at the forum, where she emphasized support from prominent Republicans, including former House member Liz Cheney.
«I traveled around this state and others with Liz Cheney. She supported me», - Harris said, adding that she has support from others as well.
«Dick Cheney is voting for me. Over 400 former members of Republican administrations have endorsed my candidacy. The reason for this is the legitimate fear based on the words and actions of Donald Trump that he will not uphold his oath to support and defend the Constitution of the United States».
Harris has made some changes in policy since her presidential run in 2019 on issues such as supporting redirecting funds from police departments to social services, supporting a single-payer healthcare system, decriminalizing illegal border crossings, and banning fracking.
When asked about these changes, Harris replied, «I believe in problem-solving. I love solving problems. And so I promise you to be a president who not only works for all Americans but also works on solving problems»
