Kamala Harris is set to become the 47th President of the United States; in fact, she already accidentally referred to herself as «president».
The 59-year-old Vice President on Thursday, August 1, uttered the word while giving a farewell speech for the late Representative Sheila Jackson Lee, who passed away from pancreatic cancer. When the crowd heard this slip, they exclaimed, but she quickly corrected herself, stating that she is the Vice President to the current President Joe Biden.
«It was Sheila Jackson Lee, whose bill made Juneteenth a federal holiday. As a U.S. Senator, I was proud to escort and then, as the presi- vice president, it was an honor to stand next to our President Joe Biden as he signed her bill», - she said.
Correcting herself, she emphasized that «as Vice President, it was an honor — with the President! With the President!» as she delivered the speech alongside former 42nd President Bill Clinton and his wife, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
This comment came shortly after she spoke out against her opponent, former 45th President Donald J. Trump, at her campaign rally at Georgian University, «Well, Donald, I hope you reconsider meeting me on the debate stage, because as they say, 'if you have something to say, say it to my face'».
Many are wondering who will be her running mate, replacing her current role. She plans to announce her running mate on Tuesday, August 6, in Philadelphia, according to Politico.
It is expected that she will choose a governor as her running mate. Although Senator Mark Kelly has been rumored as a potential candidate, some of the governors on the prospective list include Josh Shapiro from Pennsylvania, Tim Walz from Minnesota, and Andy Beshear from Kentucky. Reports suggest she is conducting interviews this week to narrow down the candidates who will be the right choice to join her in the 2024 presidential elections against the Republican Party
