Vice President Kamala Harris officially acknowledged defeat in the 2024 presidential election. The 60-year-old former Democratic candidate took the stage to address supporters and the nation from Washington on November 6. At the beginning of her concession speech, Harris noted that she personally called President-elect Donald Trump to congratulate him on his victory in the second election.

«So, let me say… my heart is full today», - began the former prosecutor. «Full of gratitude for the trust you placed in me, full of love for our country, and full of determination. The results of these elections are not what we wanted, not what we fought for, not what we voted for, but hear me when I say: the light of America’s promise will always shine bright. We will not give up and we will continue to fight».

After thanking her husband Doug Emhoff, their family, and President Joe Biden and Jill Biden, Harris noted, «We must accept the results of these elections».

«Earlier today, I spoke with President-elect Donald Trump and congratulated him on his victory», - revealed Harris, adding, «We will have a peaceful transfer of power», - apparently referring to Trump’s refusal to accept the results of the 2020 election.

Harris urged her supporters to never give up, despite the defeat in these elections.

«Although I acknowledge defeat in these elections, I do not give up the fight that fueled this campaign», - she noted. «The fight for freedom, for opportunities, for justice and the dignity of all people; the fight for the ideals that lie at the heart of our nation, ideals that reflect America in the best light. This is a fight that I will never give up».

She then told young voters that everything will be «alright» and that «sometimes the fight takes time».

«We must be loyal not to the president, but to the Constitution of the United States», - concluded Harris.

Harris began her brief but effective pre-election campaign in July after Biden, 81, dropped out of the race. He immediately endorsed her, and as a native of California, she traveled across the United States to motivate voters. Several sources reported that polls showed a tie between Harris and Trump, 78. However, on Tuesday, November 5, the majority of critical states favored Trump. He won both the electoral college and the popular vote, as announced by the Associated Press around 5:30 a.m. on November 6
