As she began her pre-election campaign, Vice President Kamala Harris held her first Democratic campaign rally.

Harris' campaign headquarters secured the Democratic Party nomination after current President Joe Biden announced his withdrawal from the 2024 presidential race, following advice from former President Barack Obama and warnings from Nancy Pelosi.

«It is an honor to have the President’s support, and my goal is to earn and win this nomination. I will do everything in my power to unite the Democratic Party — and unite our nation — to defeat Donald Trump and his extremist 2025 agenda», - noted the 59-year-old politician on her social media page.

Harris' campaign has embraced recent youth trends of Generation Z, adopting the theme of Charlie XCX’s album Brat. So her campaign’s team header on X now has the same green background with the inscription «Kamala HQ» in the center. This strategy doubled the number of supporters who attended the rally on Tuesday, July 22, where they chanted «Lock him up!» in reference to Trump.

Addressing the crowd, she said, «I was elected as the Attorney General of California, and I was a prosecutor before that. In these roles, I fought criminals of all kinds: predators who raped women, scammers who deceived consumers, cheaters who broke the rules for their own benefit. So listen to me when I say I know the type of Donald Trump. And in this campaign, I will proudly put my reputation against his».

In addition to her comments about the 45th president, she revealed her plans to overturn restrictive abortion laws, affirming women’s rights to make decisions about their bodies: «We, who believe in reproductive freedom, will stop Donald Trump’s extremist abortion bans. Because we trust women to make decisions about their bodies and will not allow the government to dictate to them what to do. And when Congress passes a law restoring reproductive freedom, as President of the United States, I will sign it».

The November elections will likely see Democratic candidate Kamala Harris and an unconfirmed vice presidential candidate against Republican candidate Donald Trump and J.D. Vance
