During the hearing on her appointment, Chavez-DeRemer faced criticism from Republicans, who have a 12−11 majority on the committee, due to her previous support for union policies. It should be noted that she was one of three Republicans who supported the Protecting the Right to Organize (PRO) Act in the previous Congress session. The Act aims to promote the formation of unions by repealing right-to-work laws in states.
However, in her public statement, Chavez-DeRemer emphasized that her past actions will not affect her ability to implement President Trump’s labor policy if appointed. «If I am appointed, my task will be to implement President Trump’s political vision. And my main principle will be President Trump’s main principle — ensuring equal conditions for businesses, unions, and, most importantly, American workers», - she said.
Chavez-DeRemer is married to her husband, Sean DeRemer, an anesthesiologist, for almost 34 years.
Chavez-DeRemer and her husband, Sean, have two children and generally keep their personal life private. However, she has shared moments on social media, celebrating her two daughters
