Fortunately, a woman on a nearby «boat» noticed him and climbed onto his boat. She then used her work radio to call the coast guard about his whereabouts.
«She gets on Captain Dave’s vessel. She said, 'Can I TikTok with you?' I said, 'No time for TikToks'», - he said. «She says, 'Well, I don’t have my phone anyway. [But] her radio works [and she] calls the coast guard».
«[I'm] rocking back and forth at sea, [thinking], my life is over», - he explained in the video. «Fortunately, the coast guard, bless… tied me up, brought me back… Captain Dave lives to tell another story».
Despite the reminder to «swim safely», - Portnoy stated that he may reconsider his decision to return to the boat after the stressful incident.
