Karenna grew up in Massachusetts and attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where she played soccer for the university team while studying biomedical engineering.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Karenna co-founded the OpenPPE initiative with others, aimed at developing improved mask designs for service industry workers.

In 2023, Karenna was awarded the prestigious NCAA Woman of the Year award, recognizing her exceptional achievements both on and off the field throughout 2022.

«This recognition is a testament to my family of women’s soccer at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and all the support directed towards me over the years», - she said in an interview at the time.

After completing her education at MIT, Karenna moved to New York and enrolled in the medical school at New York University.

«Karenna has demonstrated exceptional skill and unwavering passion for caring for patients and the mission of our institution», - said a representative of NYU. «We will remember her for her warmth, grace, kindness, outstanding achievements, and the joy she brought to our community»
