Novak Djokovic admitted that part of his status as a tennis champion has slipped away from him after being defeated by Carlos Alcaraz in the Wimbledon final on Sunday.
The 21-year-old Spanish talented guy defended his title, winning with a score of 6−2 6−2 7−6 (7−4) — this is his second consecutive victory over Djokovic in the SW19 final. He also became the sixth person in the Open Era to win both the French Open and Wimbledon in the same year, leaving Djokovic shocked by his level of play.
37-year-old Djokovic participated in the tournament just a few weeks after knee surgery and demonstrated remarkable efforts to reach the final.
Alcaraz was not the only player Djokovic felt behind; in a statement, Djokovic also mentioned talented 22-year-old Jannik Sinner as a high-class opponent.
