Cassidy Hutchinson was in Donald Trump’s inner circle when she worked as an assistant in the White House during his first term; that changed after she testified before the House Special Committee regarding the attack on the Capitol on January 6, 2021. Although she leads a private life away from the spotlight, many are still curious to learn about Cassidy, her role in the Trump administration, her testimony about the Capitol attack, and much more.

Below, Hollywood Life has gathered five facts about Cassidy.

Born in Pennington, New Jersey, Cassidy later left her home state to attend Christopher Newport University in Virginia. She earned a bachelor’s degree in political science and American studies.

While studying at the university, Cassidy interned in Senator Ted Cruz’s office. As she progressed in her political career, Cassidy later interned with Steve Scalise, and then interned in the White House Legislative Affairs Office.

After completing various internships, Cassidy was chosen as an assistant to Mark Meadows, who was Chief of Staff under Trump. She became Meadows' chief assistant in 2020 and held the position until the end of Trump’s term.

In 2023, Cassidy released her memoir, «Enough». The book tells about her work in the White House and her experience related to the Capitol attack on January 6, 2021.

According to the description of the memoir on the Simon & Schuster website, Cassidy’s memoir promises that her «workplace was just steps away from the most controversial president in recent American history, and she provides a gripping account of her extraordinary experience as an idealistic young woman, thrown into the midst of a national crisis, where she risked everything to tell the truth about President Trump and some of the most powerful people who surrounded him».

The publisher also provided information about Cassidy’s background, noting that she «has aspired to serve her country in government» since she «visited Washington as a child». «Growing up in a working-class family with a military background, she was the first in her immediate family to graduate college», - the description of Enough from Simon & Schuster says. «Despite having no connections in Washington, Hutchinson landed a key position at the heart of the Trump White House. … Hutchinson faced a choice between loyalty to the Trump administration or loyalty to the country, revealing what she saw and heard in an attempt to overturn democratic elections. She bravely stepped forward to become a key witness in the House investigations into January 6, and her testimony shocked and stunned the nation. In her memoirs, Hutchinson reveals the struggle between the pressure she faced to toe the party line and the demands of the oath she took to defend American democracy».

In June 2022, Cassidy testified on television before the House Special Committee regarding the attack on the Capitol on January 6. She made several shocking statements about what she allegedly saw on January 6, 2021. Despite the accusations she made against Trump, Meadows, and others in the White House, Trump denied them and called her a «phony» in a post on Truth Social.

«I barely know who this Cassidy Hutchinson is, other than I’ve heard very negative things about her (total phony and 'leaker'), and when she requested to go with certain other team members to Florida after I had completed my full term in office, I personally turned her down», - Trump wrote. «Why did she want to go with us if she thought we were so terrible? I understand she was very upset and angry that I didn’t want her to go or become a team member. She — bad news!»
